LightCalc for Macintosh Users

I have had some requests by Macintosh users for LightCalc.

Being a Mac user, I wrote LightCalc originally on the Mac. However, as the old story goes, more people asked for it on Windows. The VisualBasic Windows compiler, upon which LightCalc is coded, was far more capable than anything available on the Mac at the time. This enabled me to provide many more features than I was able to on FutureBasic (the Macintosh compiler).

Recently, RealBasic, a very VisualBasic like compiler has become available on the Macintosh platform. In fact, it is said to be able to cross compile existing VisualBasic programs to the Mac.

In the coming year I hope to assess the capabilities of RealBasic and provide a Macintosh version of LightCalc with ALL the features in the Windows version.

Until then you might consider what I do. I have LightCalc running on VirtualPC, a program written by Connectix for running Windows based programs on the Mac, and it works great. Another solution is, if you have an OrangeMicro PC card or equivalent installed on your Macintosh, you can install LightCalc as well.

I am truly sorry for the invconvenience and hope this interim solution works for you.

I am also compiling a list of users who would like a Macintosh version. Please click on the following link to let me know if you are interested.
