• The Inverse Square Law is used to calculate the needed candlepower to produce the footcandle level desired.
  • LightCalc also will calculate the actual footcandle level achieved by the candlepower of the lamp you specify.
  • Enter the beam angle of the lamp and LightCalc will draw and dimension the cones of light for you!!
  • Based on the ceiling and workplane heights, and the lamps' beam angle you enter, LightCalc will calculate the distance and provide you with the ideal spacing. You can even adjust how far the beams intersect above the counter. Then a section drawing of the cones of light will be displayed for you like the one here.
  • Change any of the dimensions and LightCalc will redimension and redraw the cones.
  • Notice how the cones have been proportionally redrawn with the change in ceiling height and the dimensions have been adjusted.
  • Working on a kitchen? Insert a section of cabinetry and LightCalc will reposition the lamps.
  • To prevent unsightly scallops from appearing on the face of wall cabinets, LightCalc automatically moves the cones of light away from the cabinetry, bookcases, etc.
  • Okay... so now you want pendants?!
  • Click "Pendants" from the "View" menu to select separate heights for the ceiling and the pendants.
  • LightCalc will now redimension the spacing and determine a new lamp CandlePower and the resulting FootCandle level.
  • This is a great tool for doing vaulted ceilings and lighting over islands and coffee tables. A very convincing presentation aid as well.
  • This is just really too easy!
